The Federation for International FootGolf (FIFG) is thrilled to announce its partnership with the International Testing Agency (ITA) for a groundbreaking initiative in anti-doping education and testing. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in our commitment to integrity, fairness, and athlete safety in FootGolf.
We launched this program at the European FootGolf Championship as part of our pilot project. Leading up to the Championship, we successfully delivered anti-doping education to over 450 participants. Each competitor completed an online course and passed a test on the ADEL (WADA) education platform to ensure compliance with global anti-doping standards. Only participants who submitted proof of completion were eligible to compete.
First performed Anti-doping tests - all negative.
On the final day of the competition, the first six random anti-doping tests in FootGolf history were conducted:
2 tests in each competition group
2 tests for players of the winning team
2 tests for players of the second-place team
We are proud to share that all test results came back negative, underscoring the dedication of our athletes to clean and fair play.
An emotional and historic moment came when Rebeka Rezna became the first athlete in FootGolf to undergo anti-doping testing. Her participation was a significant milestone, marking the start of a new era for our sport. This successful pilot project reflects our shared commitment to integrity and excellence.
Looking Ahead:
In 2025, anti-doping education and testing will be mandatory for all Majors and the Masters tournament.
Competitors must complete the ADEL online course before registering for events.
Member countries will receive detailed guidelines on the process within the next two weeks.
The course is straightforward, available in 22 languages, and ensures players fully understand the importance of clean competition.
Participants must send proof of completion (a certificate) to their national federations for registration.
Important Reminder:
Players who fail to meet this requirement will not be allowed to compete.
Building the Future of FootGolf:
This initiative sets a strong foundation for the future of our sport, where education will play a vital role in its development. Together, we are raising the standards of FootGolf, promoting sports integrity, athlete safety, and global recognition.
